How do i Change video format i took with my camera?

I have videos i wanted to use on Adobe After Effects CS4 cand it doesnt recognize the format, says its not suppoorted. I always use Prism in my video file conversions and i%26#039;ve never had any problems with it. the DVDFab, however, ignores movie rights and lets you convert movies straight out of a DVD original copy.
