How do I convert a video format of WMV to a MPG so I can upload it to YouTube?

I made a video and changed it to WMV, but not I need to change it to MPG, so if someone could give me steps on how to change the format to MPG. I use a Gateway computer with Windows Vista which would be a lot better with steps on how to change the video format. I can only open it up on Windows Live Movie Maker and Windows Movie Maker. Or if I don't have to use any of that...would be good too. BUT PLEASE NO LINKS TO ANY SPAM BULLCRAP. I just want something easy and simple to do it. Personally I use a program called Format Factory for my conversions, It works consistently and is free. Though I don't see why you can't upload your video as a WMV.
