How do you change a video to .wmv format?

.WMV stands for Windows Media Video, it's Microsoft's video format. One of the easiest ways to convert a video into this format is to use Windows Movie Maker, which comes with all versions of Windows XP and Vista. If you don't know where it is, type it into your start bar (Vista) or search your computer for it.

All you have to do within that program is drag the video into the top half to have Movie Maker accept the file. Then drag it from the top half into the timeline. Then, go to File-%26gt;Make Movie, name it something, click where you want it to go, and click Next. You'll then be given some options for changing the amount of memory it should take up, the quality, what it should go on (since an mp3 player has a smaller screen Movie Maker can make a smaller video to save space). Click next, and then wait a little bit for it to convert. If it's a very long video be prepared to wait a little while.

As an alternative if you don't like/can't find Windows Movie Maker (if you have XP or Vista it's definitely there though), or if you have a Mac, you can get a converter program. I use SUPER Converter (available here http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html). You can also use other free converter programs like Format Factory (available here http://www.download.com/FormatFactory/30鈥?/a> You can search Google or Downloads.com for others. Super has a fairly complicated interface but you can ignore most of the buttons for now - just drag your video into the bottom part of the window, hit the down arrow on the top left, select WMV as the video format, and then hit go. By default videos are sent to your C:\ drive on windows machines, so go to My Computer-%26gt;Local Disc (C:\) to get it. You can change where it goes by right clicking on the program and selecting File Management or something like that. I have no experience with this on a Mac but I assume it's very similar.

As yet another alternative, you can use a video editing program. I don't really suggest this one, but it does work. If you have a video editing program like the Mac's Final Cut, Sony's Vegas, Adobe's Premiere, or something else, drag the video onto the timeline and then render your project as a .WMV.

Hope this helped! Add details to your question if you have anything else you'd like to know.

That's quite odd, Youtube should accept that video. Would you mind c/opying and pasting the error so I can see exactly what it saidHow do you change a video to .wmv format? You need a video converter software to do that. I recommend this video converter which is free. It is called FORMAT FACTORY. You could download it on the link given below.
