There is no way to change formats without using a converter application that is downloaded or purchased.
The best thing to do is to download and install Quicktime for viewing your MOV files.
Quicktime is a good video player and it is designed for playback of MOV files.
If you purchase the $30- upgrade for Quicktime Pro you will be able to do editing and convert to other formats.
If you do decide to download a player then you can download and install Quicktime Alternative or Media Player Classic. MPC can play windows files and Qicktime files and has a very uncomplicate interface.
