Premiere accepts all standard formats. You may want to save it as an MPG2 or AVI file first.

This really depends on the file extension (avi mpg mkv...etc) I recommend sticking with VLC b/c its one of the more versitile players out there. If you want to use adobe U may have to purchase the encoder pack for that specific extension.
I've been editing video using Premiere for many years and in its various incarnations. I prefer Premiere to many other editing systems - at least I did before they made the massive pro/cs layout change. You say you want to %26quot;play%26quot; your clip in Premiere. I assume you want to actually edit it, right?

In any event, part of your question does not make sense. You say that your video clip is currently %26quot;as a VLC media player%26quot;. That is not a video format - it's just software that plays a wide variety of formats.

You first need to figure out what format your clip is in and then convert it so it will work in Premiere. Right-click on the file and check-out its properties. That should tell you what format it's in.

The best free conversion video program around these days is Format Factory. It seems to work with just about any type of file format and allows conversion into simliarly endless formats...and you can use it as simply or make it as complicated as you wish!

Go here to get the software:

Then you'll want to convert your clip to MPEG2 (%26quot;DVD quality%26quot;) or to AVI format. Either of these will work with Premiere.

Good luck!
